THE CYPRIOT CUISINE

According to legend, Aphrodite (goddess of love and beauty) rose from the waves of the sea at Petra tou Romiou (Greek rock) in Paphos. Cyprus comes from the Latin word "kuprum" which means copper and gave the island its name because of the huge copper deposits that were discovered during the Bronze Age. At the same time, Greeks from the mainland began to settle in Cyprus and made it a Greek country. Since then, the country has preserved its Greek heritage, language, traditions and lifestyle.
